Default Stage 1 Help

Hey guys,
So I have never ridden a fuel injected bike and never experiencedid so MANY EPA regulations on a bike before. I recently just purchased a 2016 Street Glide and wanted ya'll opinion. Here is what I intend to do to the bike.
1) Cut Out Baffles and Remove packing
2) Install a Performance Air cleaner
3) Cut out the Cat form the head of the pipe
4) Installa TTS Master Tuner

Do ya'll think I will feel a noticeable difference In performance? If so will it be a lot? Don't throw HP or Foot Pounds numbers at me. Just tell me if you think it's worth all the trouble.

I will upgrade the cams but I intend on putting at least 5k miles on her before I do. Which will only take me two or three months as much as I ride

Check out Fuel Moto's site, they have package deals. Also take a look at DynoJet's Power Vision Tuner. Here's a link to Fuel Moto's Dyno Chart page

I just put on a set of new take off mufflers and you may want to pull yours off and look inside. There's very little packing inside, mostly hollow with a thin layer around the outside. Once you remove the cat your exhaust will sound differently.

If your wanting to decat it, I would do it first then see if you like the sound before moding the mufflers.

As far as performance, if you want more low end torque the oem's did better in the butt dyna than high flow ones did. But the high flows felt like they did better if you want more power on the top end. That's been my assessment with mine.

You will all kinds of responses on this. I can tell you that many will say the bike will run cooler without the cats (TRUE). Many will say that you will have problems with cross talk from the 02 sensors being to close together (Some seem to have problems, some don't). Cutting the baffles out the stock pipes is probably a big waste of time. Just by some mufflers and be done with it. The stock mufflers without the baffles don't sound all that good and it's a pain in the butt to cut the baffle out and it still may end up being more restrictive than an aftermarket pipe.

After doing 3 stage ones, I personally don't see a big increase in performance. I know a lot of people say they do, but I've concluded that's just a way to justify all of that cash they just spent for a little bit of nothing. That's just me. I just did on my 2015 back in November. Spent a lot less this time cause I researched the hell out of it. Most noticeable thing is the sound and the bike runs a little cooler, but it's all relative. It's not a HUGE difference.

Ride it for a while and then decide. You just may be suprised how well you like it. Give it some thought, and do a lot of reading and ask questions.

The first two things you should do is get some type of tuner and get rid of the Catalytic converter.
As for the what the air cleaner does, it's just a K&N replacement filter away from the Pre-Rushmore
Stage-I air cleaner, K&N part (HD-1614) for $60.oo. A De-catted header pipe can be gotten cheep,
from online, or get a full on header or true duals. Spend your money wisely. If all you want is load pipes,
and less heat get a Stage-I setup. By the way welcome to the Forum, we will help you spend your money.

Default Thank You

So, I cut out the cat and baffles. I also created a specialized mod for the intake and replaced the air cleaner. I installed a TTS Master Tuner and let me tell you... this bitch can fly. Man, who new just letting these big 103 breath would make such a large difference.

All it cost me was the money to purchase the tuner. Everything else was just moded stock parts

With a little innovation and now how, this girl now has a skip in her step.

Thank you for all of your input

The biggest difference is the tune. You're not going to make much, if any more power from an air cleaner, a catless pipe, or mufflers. It's all in the tune. The difference from stock is massive, and those that don't feel that don't have a good tune.

You can, with some judicious shopping in the classifieds, spend well less than a grand for a really good Stage 1. I've got about $700 in mine and there ain't many people who can catch me. And on top of that, the bike's much smoother and runs cooler.
