Hello everyone. Is it possible to jump start one bike to another using a battery charging extension lead(part#99821-09)? Of course, both bikes would have to have the pigtail charging harness. Thanks.
Wire is actually not big enough. Maybe number 12 wire.. Think the battery cables are probably a 4? Also, even if you try, make sure you have the leads correct. It's actually not a good idea to jump a bike unless it's an emergency. You really should charge and find out why it is low.
Yes it will work but you need to allow the dead battery to charge awhile. Never a good idea even with good cable to just hook up and hit start. Let it charge awhile.
Compare and shop around, I paid 115 dollars for it. Very light a little bigger than an Iphone 6S Plus, has a lot of power. Put in my saddle bag before ridding, good insurance and you can use around the house when necessary, storms, power outages etc.
Dealers here use something very much like that lighting pak.
Pretty amazing to get that much power out of something so small.
Using the bike charge port probably won't work to jump start the bike. They're usually fused at something like 5 or 7.5 amps and that small of a fuse will pop if you try to start the bike. And, if you fuse it higher you're very likely to melt the wiring which can cause lots of worse problems.
Exactly and they also make a jumping cable that attaches to battery. It just plugs directly into jump pack so no need for clamping to starter or tearing bike apart to get to battery posts. It also comes with an adapter so it can be used as a tender lead.

The wire from the charge harness would not be big enough to carry enough current to run the starter on the dead bike, there is also another problem....
If you connect the two charging harnesses together as they are connected on the bikes you will actually be reversing polarity, the insulated side of the plug is the positive + connection while the other un-insulated side is the negative -
When you connect these harnesses together you will be plugging the positive connection from one bike to the negative of the other.
I got one of those jump boxes like the one Walmart had on clearance a few months ago- cost me around $20.00 (400cca). To get around the PITA of having to pull the seat to jump the bike, I got a harness for the AntiGravity jump box (Amazon, around $25), attached it to the battery and ran it under the right side cover. The harness plugs right into the jump box, and is plenty beefy to run the current. Jump box takes up very little space, and can also power phones, tablets, etc....
