Default 2 into 1 CFR?

I'm looking for the best of both worlds and possibly something different for my 2014 Street Glide. I keep reading all the raving reviews of how awesome the sound is on the CFR mufflers but I kinda want a 2 into 1. What are your opinions on going with a gutted 2010 (2:1) head pipe and just running a single muffler? Anybody have any thoughts/experience with this? Thanks!

I wouldn't think that would give you what your looking for. The CFR muffler is still a very open muffler with very little back pressure. So while it may be "possible", I don't believe it will give you the 2 into 1 performance you are wanting. just my opinion.

Well I just scored a 2010 headpipe off of ebay for $35! Worst case I put it back up for sale but I think it'll at the very least give me the look I want and hopefully the sound wont change a lot.

No I understand. I'm sure it won't perform like a true performance oriented 2-1 but I'm thinking it may be a nice middle ground. At least that's my goal.

There's another thread I read recently, where a member is making up his own 2-into-1 from a mix of parts. Older Harleys had a siamesed system, using only a single diameter of pipes, but modern technology has developed the more refined variety which the aftermarket has introduced. I'm very happy with my Supertrapp, but it will interesting to see how yours works out.

I don't think the big box where the cat goes will do much to promote scavenging, which is the advantage 2-1 pipes have over duals. Combined with big open muffler and you may even lose low end torque. But it can't hurt to try...

ps an automotive freeze plug will work well to block off the un-used left side opening in the header.

My bike sounded good with the Pro Pipe, but after putting in cams, it sounds great. Want good deep sound? Put in cams. Works every time.
