Default Front brake issue

Well last night I mounted a new front tire on my bike, the dismount and remounting went well with out a hiccup, when I reinstalled the wheel and tire I checked to make sure it spun freely and to make sure the tire was not touching the fender or bumper. all checked out. I mounted my calipers and they were dragging, and when I say dragging, I'm talking grinding, like with a good spin the tire will move about 3-4" of rotation.
looking into it further, I found that the inside of my left caliper is grinding against the rotor. I first thought that I may have mixed up the spacers so I took the tire off again and compared them, theyre the same size. before I swapped the tire there were no issues with this at all. It was getting late so I stopped after the 4th try.
I searched on here and found more on brake pads dragging, but not the calipers grinding the rotor.

do you gurus have any idea what it might be? im running a 21" 40 spoke wheel with dual discs, if that helps any...

Thanks
Barnabie

I assume we're talking about your 08 correct?
Got a manual?
I know my 07 is different than an 08 but my spacers are different sizes.
Are you saying the rotor is grinding against the caliper itself?
Where is the pad in relation?
That would have to be way out of whack for that to happen......

I assume that you have the rim located right, IE right side of rim on the right side. You didn't flip the wheel around did you?

are you sure you had the axle all the way thru the left fork leg? You didn't put the rt side clamp on first and tighten it down, before snugging the axle nut?

Spacers are different on my '06 too.I'm betting you swapped them, left to right.I remember noticing the possibility of putting the spacers back on wrong, when I had mine apart.

and yes im talking about the 2008,I know I didn't flip the wheel because there is a scratch on the rotor and that lets me know that is the left side of the wheel. and no the clamp wasn't tight before I snugged the axle nut. im going to go through it again tonight. and unfortunately I don't have a manual for it.

it was late when I looked at the spacers side by side, and I don't remember seeing the slightest difference in the two.

Yea, I'd bet ya got the spacers switched. Take a better look at them.......put them on a table and check the height.
Also, while you have it still on the bike, look at the rotor on both sides.....should be centered on both sides, if not, chances are the spacers are swapped out.

You didn't mention if bike has ABS, if bike has ABS then the sensor replaces spacers on that side.

So one side is axle-fork slider-spacer-bearing and other side is bearing-spacer or speed sensor-fork slider-washer- nut.
Spacers have qrooves on outboard side.
If not ABS external spacers on on left and right side are interchangeable. (Same size 2008 and newer)
Valve stem should be on right side of bike.

Hope this helps

same pads and rotors, that's what boggles me, the only thing that has changed was the rubber. and I have taken the wheel off multiple times and reinstalled with no issue...

the bike does not have ABS. the wheel that I have is a 21x3.5 so the valve stem is in the center of the rim.... may be a long shot, but I will check again to make sure that the grooves are facing out board, not sure if it will make a difference, but its worth a try!

Thank you all! and I will keep you posted!
