Intermitten B1005 code
Hey guys so I'm stumped here.. recently I've been getting:
B1005 Fuel Level Sending Unit High/Open Instruments
I've gone though the service manuals diag procedure and everything is fine. I can't seem to reproduce the code tripping.. It happens sporadically.
Eg: today riding fuel gauge is reading just under half, turn corner and gauge drops to E and speedo gas light comes on... straighten out ride a bit then gauge reads again and speedo gas light stays on... then it goes out...
suggestions? is it possible the sending unit is going?

thanks 14Guineapig but I have the same manual I was posting the values to get an opinion...
Xpressway--- That's what I was thinking... so I took apart the sending unit, cleaned the contacts and bristles, re-soldered the wires and put a new retaining clip on the float arm removing the excess play it had... now it's working within the specified Ohms as per the SC.
I don't think this is permanent but it will do for now.. Dealer want 160CDN for a new one so I'm going to try to squeeze the life out of this one.. I'll post in a couple day if it's still working or not.
Thanks everyone for the help

Used to be, on variably potentiometers, the coil/board/resistor or whatever they used would develop dead spots. But that's not what yours sounds like to me. If the problem comes back after your cleaning/refresh then I'd be thinking a pinched/grounded/broken wire between the guage and the sender. Or maybe a loose/dirty harness connector.
