I have a buddy that just bought a 2002 Ultra Classic. I noticed today that when the switch is in the lock position the fork doesn't lock. Other than that everything seems to work like it should. Any ideas ? Thanks
It's also worth pointing out that there is a mechanism in there, which may be out of adjustment. It's too long since I last looked at mine to recall what is involved, but the factory service manual will tell you. It can be adjusted so it works again.
i never lock my forks a thief can break it very easily . my dealer said it is not going to do very little to stop your bike from being stolen. if it malfunctions then you may be stuck

I've had my bike from new - 26 years and the lock is still fine. It's never been stolen, so when is it going to fail? No don't bother.....
I always lock mine when I leave the bike in a public place. Sure, they can break the lock and seal it anyway. But, if I don't lock it it may give the insurance company a reason to try to squirm out of their responsibilities. I figure that if the bike gets stolen a broken fork lock will be the least of my worries and I don't want the insurance to have any reason to deny.

If someone wants your bike bad enough, there is very little that will stop them. The way I see it is, anything that slows them down is a good thing and will increase the chances of your bike still being there when you get back. If they steal your bike with the forks locked they sure as hell would have taken it if they were unlocked.
My 02 was that way.
Try to apply slight pressure on the handlebar
with the forks turned all the way. It might lock.
Not a good design. Kinda like the saddlebag latches
and the rear tire valve stem. Other than that . . . .
DAMN I miss that bike !!!!
Sad story there.
