Shirt drys out to fast. The vests provide a hour or so of cooling, a shirt will dry in minutes in the heat and wind.

Thanks for the info everyone. The only drawbacks I see are having to wet it from time to time, and when you stop some where to eat, your shirt and upper part of pants are damp.

They are not big money and seem to be well worth a try.

You just have to remember to carry a dry shirt with you to change into.

I bought one last year while i was riding across texas to new mexico. Saved my *** completely. Well worth it. I put it under a sink let it soak in half *** rung it out and put it against my skin. About jumped out of it after that but slipped the t shift over it and then the mesh jacket over it and rode off literally into the sun and then sunset. Next morning it was still cool. Rode out a few hours in the morning pulled it out of the saddle bag still cool. Soaked it again and continued riding. Well worth the 50 bucks I paid for it.

If it gets hot I carry a big ziplock bag, but a quart of cold water (doesnt have to be cold either) at a gas stop and soak it for 15-20 mins and good for a few more hours.
They have a long sleeve one that has a warning that wearing it below 90* may cause hypothermia. I have the collor, it helps keep the jugular blood flow cool.

I wore one once under my leather jacket and it was 102 out, I went to a dealer and walked around with my jacket zipped up to make others feel worse :O)))))

I was going to ask how these would work under a vented leather jacket, behind a road king windshield.

Any other input?

Well now I have the mesh jacket, the leather one doesn't fit me anymore with the vest underneath (I think the water made it shrink. wink wink) The mesh is better than the leather one IMO.
Someone said they would worry when its 110 out and stopping for lunch in a wet shirt. A. the shirt dries out quickly, B. everyone else there is dying from the heat too, and C. Its not the wet shirt I would worry about, its the jeans that look like you peed for days. But all in all its worth every cent.
PS Someone gave me a cooling towel a couple years ago for xmas, well I almost passed out while riding through the eastern Oregon desert last year. Didn't have hardly any water but found a rest area with a drinking fountain. Soaked it and sat there for a spell and tied it around my neck, lasted a couple hours until we reached civilization. Point is these things work.

FWIW: soundrider.com sells the TechNiche HyperKewl vests.
