100% agree - these were made for LOW humidity areas
Hence, phase changing vests for humid areas. Here in Maryland is just as bad as Florida where I used to live. I would love to find a "one size fits all" vest, but that won't happen. I have three different jackets, three different base layers, three different winter socks, three types of rain gear but only one wife. (Had to throw that one in).
This is the case where for the most part, you get what you pay for. Evaporative vests are inexpensive. Hyperkewl is a good buy. But if you need longer care, gel packs are the way to go. Only you know what will work.... time wise.
Buy the vest it's a life saver ! Came across Kansas last year it was 105 and could hardly breath at 10am with the road heat. Soaked the vests to try for the first time and was amazed at the increased comfort level ! Found one of the best thing to use for cover is a long sleeve button up WHITE cotton work shirt, lets the air through and reflects the sun big time ! The vest should fit loose as should the cover shirt for air circulation and you won't believe the difference !
