Default Thundermax dynotuning

Hello, new member here with my first post and just like a newbie I need help. See my sig for my setup. I am looking for a reputable tuning shop that will dynotune using the Thundermax. Preferably in the Tampa, FL area but willing to ride to get it done if necessary. I am aware of the wave tune feature but I want the 120R base maps to be tailored on a dyno. Any suggestions on a shop?

Some additional background. The bike new with the SE Hi flow exhaust (cats in the mufflers), SE ventilator and SE 120ST base map pulled 115/115 (no actual tuning done, just a see what she will do pull). After the mods in the sig it pulled 114hp/122tq. The original torque curve was much flatter and the after mods torque curve didn't hit 100 until 2800rpm (it actually looks more like a horsepower curve). I paid for a tune but really only got a few pulls and some wave tune adjustments to the basemap curves (can't post the curves cause no digital copy). Needless to say, I was not impressed and feel this motor will do more. Not looking for nor expecting a barn burner just more bottom end torque without doing a cam change (for now).

Any suggestions for a tune shop are appreciated.

I've rode past Thunderbay many times. Can't believe I completely forgot about that shop. Thanks for the reminder.

no problem...they are really knowledgable, and pretty reasonably priced. I've been using them for years after tampa vtwin tried to show me the same rear brake pad i needed changed last time I had a tire put on. I mean literally the same one.

Make sure you bring your CD 'case they don't have it.
Pretty easy to set up (you should try it) but, if ya aint doin it yourself, they need to have their (ThunderMax) software.

If you or your teenager has a laptop, You or they could do the base setting. With the thundermax, you just get close and let the Auto tune do the rest. Very easy and straight forward. There are youtube videos of the install. You might have to call Zippers to see if they updated a map. But once you run the CD, it should pull up all the update information. You click your year/make/model/engine/pipes and AC. The only problem I can tell from your setup is the pipes need to have the 18mm bungs welded near the heads. But if you are not tech savy and have the dealer do it, you will love the ease of Thundermax. Later down the road, if you add cams, the Tmax will automatically adjust, high flow exhaust/true duals, bam! done. Good luck and as we say here, THIS POST IS WORTHLESS WITHOUT PICS!

I installed a TM with autotune and honestly there's nothing to it... Tutorial vids were easy to follow and 100% understandable to those with no previous experience. Took me aobut 20 min to install the unit and load the base map. Initialize the system, run the IAC auto calibration and ride... they system will adjust itself. Ride a couple of good trips (1-2 hours various throttle) re-connect lapotop and run the auto write. (it will read the new learned points and write it to the module) Done. the unit is really self sufficient.

The software has tones of base maps you just follow the tutorial vids and select the closest one, load it and initialize the system. Initialization is most important.. Every time the battery is disconnected you have to re-initialize the module.

Check out CYCLE SOLUTIONS, www.cyclesolutionsonline.com . Chris Waddell is one of the best tuners around for VTWINS. He goes to a lot of rallies and has the dyno there with them. They also have a winter shop in Fort Myers, Fla, not sure how close that is to you, but it would be worth the trip. Give him a call. Very happy with the work he did on mine.

Thanks for the Cycle Solutions suggestion however that is the 'shop' I was referring to in OP. I went to the Thunder Beach Rally specifically for getting the bike tuned because I had heard very good things about Chris Waddell. I am not dishing him in any way and he was quite busy but my bike was on the dyno less than 20 minutes. He did make a universal -2 degree timing change. The bike does run good and for the average rider it would probably be good enough. I'm an old gearhead and maybe my expectations were too high but I was looking (and still looking) for a tune to optimize performance and not a wave tune adjustment to the base map which I could do myself.
