Just hired a 2013 Electraglide in USA for 10 days. The sound system won't work to my disappointment. The rental guy didn't have anything else so had to take it.
Are these systems unreliable. He said they were.
Thanks
Where did you rent from? An HD dealer or just some rental place? HD dealers who rent usually care more because it's their product and people often rent to try one before buying. A rental agency just doesn't care. Rental vehicles are notoriously poorly cared for by renters and rentors. They have no incentive to care. Renters because it's not theirs and rentors because it's going to rent whether all the bits work or not.
Can the radio system fail? Sure. Are they particularly prone to it? Not really.
As said, check fuses. If it still doesn't work then just enjoy the ride. Mine stays turned off about half the time anyway.
Is the radio completely dead ... no clock on the display?
The bike in the photo looks like and Ultra Classic. If the radio display is working and you are not getting any sound, check the "Speaker" rocker switch on the dash. It could be set to headphones.
Thanks guys.
It's just a general place in Vegas.
Not sure what year. 1690 with abs. 52,000 miles, odd fairing and front fender as a previous renter hit a car. About to be retired said the renter guy.
Got 10 secs of sound but no display earlier today. Then got full Display no sound. Whether I use it or not it should be fully working as per spec.
The rental guy says I can visit any HD dealership along my route and get them to replace the system or alternatively he will give me a discount.
Does anyone know if the system is just the head unit component in the dash or whether there are other parts making it a lengthy process to change it?
Thanks
