Default stalling at stop

I have a 2000 ultra fuel injected, cobra long shots and stage 1 breather set up. I rode about 10 miles, engine getting nice and hot I pull in the clutch at the stop light and it dies. It acts like it is running on 1 cylinder. I crank it back up and can keep it running with throttle, but will die if I don't use the throttle to keep it running. I let it cool down for about 15 minutes while talking to tenant, rode about 5 miles no problem then did same thing. fired it back up and rode about 15 mile with no more problem. Will a weak battery cause this? Is there a cylinder cancel device on the 2000 model?

I would be more suspicious of a dirty or bad idle air control valve. Here is a search of other threads discussing cleaning and replacement of the IAC valve.

Idle air control valve

To answer your question, I don't know if the 2000 models had the Engine Idle Temperature Management System (EITMS) which turns the rear cylinder off at a stop if the engine temperature rises above 284°F. Other conditions must be met but that is the gist of it.

Sounds like a dirty fuel injector to me. Try some Techron or another cleaner. Maybe some bad gas! JR

thanks for the replies I will check the iac valve. as far as the gas issue,it has done this in the past with fresh high octane fuel. and at all levels of fuel, full to 1/4 of tank. and when it is moving it doesn't seem to have the same crisp throttle response

Having the same issue on my 2006 Ultra (16K miles). I doubt its the fuel filter. Changed the plugs, same problem.

No engine codes?

I had that happen and found that the spark plug terminal on the rear cylinder was partially broken.
I did have an engine code on the rear cylinder.

no engine codes that I see. I will look at plug terminal. 1st time it happened I had ridden to myrtle beach about 3 1/2 hour ride. was there for 5 days for the spring rally 2014. ran perfect until ride home on sunday, I pulled clutch lever while rolling up to stop and it died. I had to keep slight preasure on throttle to keep it running. since I have cleaned the hole on the bottom front of fuel intake area. which increased Idle from 700 to 1000 so that helped but did not solve the cut off problem. Over the last 2 years it has been hit and miss. It seems to be better on rides right after I remove battery tender. about 6 months ago I cleaned battery posts and leads and it had not done it since until last week and now it is back to every other ride or so. I am charging battery now,to check theory of charged battery helping issue. of course it is raining here today.
