That could very well be the issue. I looked at it to and it doesn't list it as having SWC.

Not going to work if your HU doesn't support SWC.

Awesome, ...guess I'll hang on to the radio then for another chore, I guess it was the 315bt model actually but still doesn't say anything about swc

In the Kenwood manual there should be a wiring diagram that tells you which wire goes where. Do you see a wire for steering wheel controls?

I Googled one, and it says light blue and yellow is marine remote wire...that's exactly the issue

And that's connected to the appropriate SWC wire on the ASWC harness?

That means the Axxess recognizes that particular function. I believe short pauses means it doesn't. Look at the programing instructions. I had the exact same issue.
