Just going to take it in, can't get it fixed right, plus I think something else is going on, I've hooked it up exactly how the instructions say and help on this website and still not working, not to mention I was messing with it last night and now all that works is the volume up, nothing else not even on the right handlebar

If you get it straightened out please let us know what the problem was. The Metra setup is kind of one size fits all, lots of unneeded wires if you are ruining an amp and the instructions are tiny and not exactly straight forward. I had hooked up to the wrong side of the handlebar wire. Took me a while to figure that out. Best advice is to read all the posts in the sticky

No not yet, was told from Harley the original HU that was automatically raising the volume it wouldn't fix it. I'll go ask them tomorrow, was trying trying to save some money, I'm mechanically inclined but this radio is throwing me thru a loop

I know some have success and some don't. I didn't and have been wrenching forever! I spent so much time trying to get it to work. I still don't have any idea why it didn't work for me but am very happy with the Hawg Wired unit. If you can't figure it out this might be your only option if you want to use the handlebar controls.

Yea, just don't want to spend more especially if that doesn't fix it, and not to mention 140 bucks

I have the same unit. Like others have said ground it right (and not exactly by the directions). Get a multimeter and find a good solid ground. I've heard of people actually running a 4 or 6 gauge line into the fairing and putting a ground bar in there for stereo installs.

...For what it's worth, my 08 did something similar & turned out to be rubbed/chafed wires from broken fairing brackets.
