Default Question on buying chrome forks

Hi all, I'm picking up a Yellow 2007 RK Custom (pictures after I pick it up) and I'm going to add chrome forks. I notice a lot of folks on the forum have good things to say about the forks off Ebay, but I see prices ranging from $170 to $400. The $170 pair appears to be a no brainer. Am I missing something? What should I watch out for?

Thanks

There are several people that will either sell you chrome OR do an exchange. I shopped ebay and here on the for sale section for a pair of 'take offs' found a set for $45 shipped. I had already found a local Chrome shop with good prices. Had them chromed / so i could do the job all at once - for me, i like to know the chrome shop and have some control - any issues, deal with it locally.

If you do not want to go thru what i did, the above person should take good care of you. $150/$175 about for just the chrome. Shipping ?

$175

Exchange you boring factory fork legs for a set of '' ***** SHINY " chrome plated sliders. We sand and polish them before a beautiful triple plated chrome finish is applied using a thick copper base and bright nickel and chrome giving them a brilliant high luster that matches the finish on our wheels . This is an exchange program - we send you the chrome fork legs and you return yours in the same box. The price is 175.00 for the set . We don't charge a core charge unless they are not returned within 30 days, then 100.00 core charge is added. To order call toll free 1 877 662 9940

The $170 ones, are you sure they're chromed. I saw a price similar to that, but they were for polished lower forks, not chromed.

Got a link?

You might be better off on ***** Shiny for the price point and members have had good reviews, unless you know the eBay seller is reputable. They seem to be hit-and-miss these days.

For non-stock looking fork legs, Arlen Ness and Performance Machine has them with hidden axles. These are more cha-ching though.

Anyway you look at it, the chrome legs look real good on a King. Gotta do the cow bells also.

You'll also need the upper cans that are chrome plated. The factory cans are made from stainless steel and will look yellowish when compared next to the chrome lowers.

Thanks all, sounds like I'll use ***** Shiny. And thanks for reminding me about the cow bells. I'm sure this is just a starting place for my chrome addiction.

The only thing that I can warn you about is that some of the lesser chrome shops will leave residue on the inside of the tubes that will need to be cleaned out prior to installation. If you don't you risk cutting seals. That being said it is one of the best mods looks wise that I have made to mine after the chrome wheels.
