Default American Elite or MCII

Soon I'm going to need a rear tire 11,781 miles on the OEM. I'm trying to decide between the American Elite or the Michelin Commander II's.

Had the MCII's on my Softail and loved them , wondering how they would be on a 200 + lbs heaver bike ?

Any body have experience with either of these tires on the rear ?

I had American Elite on my 2011 Street Glide.
Great tire!

When it was time for new tires on my '15 Limited, I went with American Elite again.

Never tried the Michelin, but have heard good things about that one also.

It is very hard to compare tires with other users though, unless that rider's style and road selection is very close to yours.
One person might get 18,000 miles out of "Brand A" and love it.
The next person might only get 4,000 miles out of that same exact tire.
Lots of variables.

I love my MCII's. 13000 miles and they still look like new. The ride and handling of them is excellent. If you liked them on your Softail you will like them on the touring bike too.

American Elite replacement on my Street Glide. Huge difference. Nice riding and handling tires.

They dont seem to carry the correct sizes for our bikes: Stock size front ('09) is 130/80/17 and rear 180/65/16 - neither are listed.

I love the AE - especially since they offer the narrow ww which was standard until the Rushmore bike were released. I have almost 74,000 miles on my bike so I've gone through a few tires. AE have been perfect every time; a lot better than the OE D407/408F. Rears last about 15k (I could probably get a few more out of them) and the fronts last well over 20k. I put a front at 53,900 and I now have 73,700 with a lot of tread left. They handle great, look great...I can see no reason to switch

That seems to be for a set of tires.

130/70/18 fits the front on newer bikes with the Enforcer wheels. Missed the 60 on the rear.
