Buddy at work has a 94 road king (carb). If he slowly rolls on the throttle no problem but if he tries to get on it the bike stumbles and sometimes will backfire. Nothing has been changed. I'm thinking a partially clogged jet brought to us by our ethanol loaded gas. Any other ideas will be appreciated.

Dose a tankful of gas with about 6 oz. of Seafoam and run through it and see if that will clean things up a bit. Always start with the cheapest possible fix when trying to diagnose what's going on.

Could the fuel filter (if it exists on this bike) be clogged?

Dirty fuel filter
Bad/failing pet cocktail
Dirty jets
A really dirty air filter/intake
Varnish in the carb
Debris in bottom of the tank
Or any combination of the above.

Sorry I forgot to add that it's sporadic. Had him check fuel filter on peacock already . Thinking jet but like I said doesn't happen all the time. I was thinking plugged jet or float sticking.

If you think it's just a plugged jet or sticky float the Seafoam should rectify that.
