Default Proper engine mount isolator bolt torque

I replaced my worn out front motor mount with the Buell L1501.8 mount.

The instruction sheet that came with it specifies an isolator bolt torque range of 63-70 ft-lbs. This mount is intended for Buell bikes, but is identical to the Harley motor mount B-revision supposedly.

The factory service manual for my EG specifies 35-45 ft-lbs.

My just-received handy dandy 97-05 Ready Reference Torque Values booklet specifies 15-20 IN-LBS....

So of the three, which range should I be tightening this main bolt?

My '06 manual says 15-20 ft/lbs. I would go with the information for the application.

I agree with fabrik8r. You've gone away from stock, so the stock numbers are overtaken by the instructions for the part you've chosen. I have an S&S 107" and still use the stock mount, which is fine, for future reference.

But if the Buell part is the Harley 16207-79B part, just under a different number, have I really gone away from stock (my parts book lists the B revision as what came on the bike)?

I would say yes. The frame design and motor fitment is different than a bagger and probably has different harmonic and vibration levels. Doesnt a Buell run in the 8k rpm range?

I've owned Buells for many years. If they use Harley parts then they show the stock Harley part number in my experience (oil filters for example). So I would be surprised if the Buell part is the same as a Harley part, just given a different number. That sounds like internet chatter to me!

I have the same part and torqued it to 20 ft/lbs when I installed it several years ago and forgot about it (which is a good sign I'd guess.)

It's not that tough to readjust if necessary. (Buell wants you to put 70 lbs on a 3/8" bolt huh?)
