The Florida HOG rally is coming up in late October. Its going to be over in Polk County which would be an easy ride for me. Ive never been to a HOG rally. What makes it different from other rallies? What makes it worth $35 a piece to go?

I'm a HOG member, but I've never been to a HOG rally. So, I personally can't say why it's different or if it's worth $35. I'm sure someone will chime in with their opinion. Here's a link to the FAQ.
We've been to several Florida Rallies and there has been good entertainment and what makes it fun for us is the Hog group from Ocala that go and hanging out together. They put together some good rides and things to do at the Rally location. Is it worth $35 dollars. Its what you make of it. For us it's been fun and a good time. This year it's in Lakeland area so not familiar with the area to say what the rides would be like. Hope you'll consider it. It can still be hot though.
The Oho Hog rally is next week and only about 20 miles from me. I'll probably ride over and see what's going on, but I'm not paying to go. According to their website it look likes I'd be paying to go on a few organized rides (mostly ending up at Harley dealerships and offering some kind of grilled lunch).
I got home this afternoon from the Virginia HOG Rally, been going to this one for a few years, and have always had a good time. They organize rides and have other events. My chapter always reserves a room that we can party in at night.
I too attended the VA HOG Rally in Lynchburg, VA. It was basically in my backyard so the wife and I registered. We had a great time, nice rides, entertainment, and even volunteered some which led up to met some good people.
Don't know where next years rally will be but we will plan on attending. It is what you make it.
For my wife and I HOG rallies made a vacation destination choice easy for us. In 2012 we chose the WV HOG rally and it paid off in great dividends. We met some locals there who asked if we wanted to tag along with them and the rest is history. They showed us some roads and rides that are unforgettable. WV has been our vacation destination ever since. The HOG rally itself is a footnote. Hooking up with our new found friends is the main event. The rally for us was worth the price of admission. The rally is what you make of it.
But you needn't worry about going or bashing them. I've heard the MoCo is ending all state rallies after this season.
