I'm picking up my 2016 RGS on Friday. I am not loving the bars. Can anyone recommend a set of bars that will take me up and forward a little bit? Anything that I don't have to extend cables would be a plus. Thanks.
Wait until you have collected your bike and take stock then. I have found with a new to me bike that simplay adjusting the stock bars works wonders. For me, being pretty short, the opposite applies, which is that I want my bars a little lower and closer.
You could even ask the dealer to adjust your bars to make them more comfortable for you. Many dealers have a 'Fit' set-up, so should be able to help you get comfortable. They will also have alternative bars you can size up.
I could recommend a few different sets, chances are you wouldn't like them.
Getting a new bike, time to do your homework and get the bars that fit you...not what others think may fit you.
Just picked up my Road Glide Special yesterday. I had them put on Factory 47 bars. I went with 12's...They are awesome. Best choice I could have made. You can go all the way up to a 14 without changing the factory cables. The rise and pull back is spot on. And they are "beefy" which perfectly matches the front end.
I installed heritage style bars when I bought my roadie in 2008. I am happy with them. On my ride home from the dealer I was cursing up a storm, the stock bars were to low and my back was hurting half an hour down the road. The heritage bars are only a couple inches taller and that made a big difference for me.

Depends on your perspective. Would you be more comfortable with taller bars? If so, saving a few bucks just to keep the stock garden hoses seems a little silly, unless you dont ride your bike very much.
With Road6 bars you can go up to 13" without cable changes. With Factory47 you can go to 14" without changes. Road6 has a very good YouTube video on changing bars.

This is exactly the kind of information I was hoping for. Thank you very much White Ice!
