Garmin Zumo, my unit is about 9 years old now and still going strong. Not fancy but gets the job done and very much water proof. Speaking of, I need to update the map before this years road trip.

Post a WTB ad for a used Zumo 660 or 665. IMO they're the best out there for our bikes.

I use the app Co-Pilot. It saves the maps on your phone so no worries about having a data signal. The maps and POIs are updated once a quarter. I have the paid version but it was $10 well spent. I don't use a mount, I put my phone in my windshield bag, hook it up from the earphone jack to my radio aux in and play my music from my phone and Co-Pilot gives directions over the music.

I got a Harley Zumo 550 sitting on the shelf.
It is an excellent GPS for the bike.
Used but good condition.

Using a Garmin NUVI50 with the lifetime maps in a RAM mount on the left side of the handlebars. Two issues is that I can not see it when the sun is behind me due to glare, and its not waterproof so it goes in the tour pak when its wet out. Other than those two issues its been great for me.

I have used GARMIN Nuvi models on my bikes, and although they are not listed as "water resistant...I never had a problem with them when they were mounted behind a fairing. I now, use a Zumo 660. It has performed very well, and I see new models have come out...the Zumo 595LM and 395LM.
Yes, they are pricey. You could by several Nuvis and if they crap out in the rain, you could four more spares!

Garmin Nuvi 2595LM with a Ram Mount for easy on and off. Features blow away the $2K Boom radio navigation system. Like others mentioned, you can't really hear it but I can easily see with it right in front of me on the bars.

Keep a plastic ziplock in your pocket in case it starts to rain. Slide it over the top and zip up the sides. Keeps it dry as they are not waterproof..

IMHO...you can't beat the Garmin Zumos. Functionally, and purpose built interface.

Seems I find a lot of areas without cell coverage, so that eliminates using an iPhone,

I tried a car Garmin and it ended up malfunctioning. I sent it for repair and all was good for a while but it gave me issues again. Bit the bullet and got a Zumo 665 and it's the best thing I could've done IMO

I have used my Droid in a magnetic case on the tank, it is OK, even when the turn by turn is fed into the radio AUX port on my 03, but looking down to see things sucks.

If you have the ability to wipe your backside with 100 dollar bills, a Harley Roadtech Garmim Zumo 660 or 665 is nice, what is 700+ dollars for a GPS, and another 150 for a mount, and another 130 for the interface so the turn by turn comes over the speakers no matter what mode the head unit is in. Oh and it will act as a MP3 player and bluetooth connect your phone and display who is calling on the GPS screen....

If you can live without having every stealership in the database, and the ability to have the turn by turn over the speakers in any mode, then the Garmin 660 or 665 that is not from the MoCo can save you a few hundred dollars.

I got my Roadtech 660 and mount used, and bought the interface from Boardtracker, but I am still into it for stupid money..about 5 bills
