looking to downgrade the decibels on my Road King for a trip and I don't
want to go back to the stock pipes. I am running M.G.S. true duals with their
"quiet" mufflers. I would like to find a set of very mild 2" inlet mufflers.
It seems that every muffler I look at is for stock headpipes. I would apprecieate some ideas. thanks
suggest that you try a decatted header and the stock mufflers- alot of guys are happy with that budget combination.
header about $150 on ebay and I assume you still have your stock mufflers- you'll have to sort out tuning as well- but you may be happy with the change in power characteristics
next time around consider a tuneable pipe such as the supertrapp supermeg or screaming eagle fatshots- these can be about as loud or quiet as the rider wants...in minutes
Check out Smartpartz baffles. Yes parts with a z. I put them in my decatted streetglide with Reinharts to make the wife happy. They work, you do have to pull the Baffle out of your muffler to install. I thought I would remove them after the big trips we go on each year were over but I never did.

Take a look at American Custom Exhaust, They take stock cans and allow you to "tailor" the sound for the occasion, good performance and cost effective and still retain a quality muffler body. I don't understand the thought behind a 2" header, maybe you could explain.
I have a 2015 RK with the stock head pipe. I purchased "Full Boar" slip-ons from JP with the 2.5" baffles. I love the sound but sometimes they are too loud, so I purchased 2" baffles for them also from JP. They sound good, louder then stock but not as loud as the 2.5's. Don't let the price (cheap) discourage you. There is a ton of reviews on them. They are made in TN. Awesome slip-ons. there is also 2 1/4 baffles avail. Do a search on Utube for them, there is a vid of a dude using different baffles.
the pipe diameter is 2" versus the factory pipes at 1 3/4". Mike, you are right I will probably put my decatted header back on and the original mufflers. I like M.G.S. pipes for about 2 hours and thats enough. I am heading out on a trip back to Glacier and Canada in a couple of weeks and must make some sort of change
