just bought a Road King Custom and got about 500 miles on it.Have bought a Black narcell cover and forks, back rest, and a couple of ignition/trasnmission cover, now I want exhaust...I like the looks of the stock pipes with the big round exit ends. After looking on this forum I have heard lot of different ideas about which way to go with exhaust.true duals or slip ons.My question is my stealer told me that slip ons were not worth the money.Seems like alot of guys here have slip ons and love them....whats your ideas on that and what kinds are propular and work the best and do you think a true dual is the way to go? Also is there any with the bigger rounder stock looking slip ons or duals....thanks for your imput
I ran V&H slip-on Ovals on my 06 RK Custom -- they looked great, are finished well, & sound very good. Combined with the Stage-1 & Fuelpak, the bike was lively, ran cool & got around 44 MPG avg.
I have drag fishtails on my bike. They aren't for everyone (they are LOUD), but I like them. I will be going with the full sac to get rid of that cross over, at some point. [:@]
If ya like the OEM look - Look @ E-Bay search slip-on's or mufflers - they do have modified OEM exhaust that will improve the performance & sound while keeping the OEM look... But watch out - there are some sellers there that just butcher the mufflers and are JUNK... LOOK for the sellers with the highest sales and feed-back ratings - and these can & will save you $$$$
For a better than stock look, look no farther than the Rush line. You can scroll down to the bottom of the page and listen to them. I have people ask me all the time what kind of mufflers I have on my bike. They look awsome and sound great. Here's a link for you. http://www.epiflex.com/rush_touring.html
You really need to hang out at your local dealer one weekend and listen to bikes. The internet is no way to tell what the pipes really sound like. It's really a personal thing. When you hear something you like just ask.
Slipons are the cheapest way to get sound. It just depends what you are looking for.
I love my Rush 2". Great sound - deep low rumble on idle & when you crack the throttle she barks! When I shift into 6th gear it really tones down to a nice cruising speed sound. You can't beat the price either for the quality you get.
