anyone try those knock off led lights?. I was afraid people were getting tired of lighting questions and opinions, I just felt like the info out there was more specific to the glides and wanted to get feedback for the RK.
After replacing two factory lenses for big money that were taken out by rocks, I went with a $20 Sylvania Silverstar sealed beam halogen for my Road King. I'm happy with the light both night and day.
In my opinion, which doesn't mean anything, some of the fancy lights work great at night but during the day, others can't see you as well. I want a light that is visible during the day light as well as giving me light at night. I do ride at night but it's rare. Daytime visibility to others is more important to me that the odd occasion I ride at night.
Any 7" round dual beam headlight will work.
If you want more light, look into the fog lights that mount on the crash bar that the MOCO sells. They are awesome for increasing your visibility during the day and add a ton of light at night. I leave them on all the time.
Bought a dual headlamp assy off a Rushmore for $40 with harness. Bought a trim ring for $35. Replaced low beam H11 bulb with a 65w H9 bulb, same as high beam. Wired low beam so it can be on with high beam. Installed brighter bulbs, 37w, in the passing lamps and wired them to be on with hi and low beam. Lots of light now!!

I have long been a crusader that this combo is simply the best possible solution for light output. Hopefully in the near future I will be able to put it to the test with a side by side comparison with my OPT7, in the pre-dual bulb bucket. Once I get them together, I will post up the results, with pictures. Ever since I saw the absurd price tag that comes with the ill performing daymaker, I have been on a mission to make it look like the overpriced "gizmo" that it is.

How did you wire low beam to stay in wth high beam?

Ok so I found a headlamp off a 2014 SGS for $25. Do you know if it fits by chance. Guessing I need the trim ring too. Thanks Karma your the man!

My 11 RK has an unused hot and ground wire in the nacelle. Wired it to that. Their are several threads on how to do this.

Be sure it comes with the harness, h11 and h9 plugs and wire, also as they are expensive. Need to hardwire one end of harness to your existing harness and modify the h9 bulb to fit in the h11, low beam, plug. This is all easy to do. Yes, the trim ring is required. The cheapest one I found was on Amazon when I did this. Many on ebay also. Again, their are several threads on how to do this.
Kuma are you were talking passing lamps wired to stay on with highs...you helped me out with that a few months ago...completed! For some reason I thought you had somehow wired the low beam to stay on with the high beam but I see the light already comes configured to run that way.
