Default Light question

Ok, read a bunch of threads about projector, reflector, truck lite, JW, but it seems everyone I read is in reference to a fairing bike most without passing lamps. I have a road king so what do you guys recommend for head lamp and passing lamp upgrade? What about a projector type headlamp with reflector type passing lamps?

Just do a bulb swap. You can buy good LED bulbs to replace the headlight and auxiliary bulbs for $80-$100 for all 3. Fuel Moto, RamJet Racing, there is a lot of them out there now to choose from. I have the ones from RamJet. I really like them. Lot better than the candle that came on it.

A new and better halogen bulb will make a significant improvement in the headlight all by itself.

I did the Opt 7 LED bulbs for the headlight and passing lamps, and they put out a lot of light. The 881 bulbs (passing lamp) however went out twice (defective), so I recently went with a projector type for the passing lamps (only).

There are several types and brands on Amazon and Ebay. I went with these, though I didn't need or use the halo ring. They put out an insane amount of light, as most of the projectors do, at a fraction of the cost for Daymakers.

I'm very happy with the Opt 7 headlight bulbs, though.

the FLHR headlight bucket has less room than batwng bikes- the larger rear of an LED bulb may not fit physically.

I have posted my own 'speriment with led kit for my dual halogen ( FLHTC) - my opinion ( and there are pics) is that the leds I bought had GOBS of light- yet were manufactured so that they did not work with the optics of my headlight and i had hot and dark spots all over the place.

I reverted to upgrade halogens on my bike- just better quality light- incl a modded H9 for low beam

my "other" opinion is that bikes with leds are just not as visible to other traffic

Truck Light Phase 7, the all three set.
Adjustment is critical.
Highly advise the high beam wire mod to use the passing lamps on high or low beam.

This is exactly what I did. OPT7 headlight, with JDM LED spots. Stupid amounts of light. Easy drop in bulbs. Here's my bike with the OPT7 next to a new Limited with the MOCO Daymaker. No spots in either pic. It wasn't even close.

Thanks guys. I am glad I asked and glad there are other options. All the threads I read were indicating to buy either the phase 7 or Evo 2, which I am sure are awesome but spendy. Can you not take the bulb out of the Glide models?
