Looks like I'll be putting my RK on the market also. Laid off from the oil and gas biz since this past November, Friday the 13th as a matter of fact. I got the 'King just as I was recovering from shoulder surgery, and was finally back to enjoying the ride when this occurred. She doesn't have a lot of miles.

My background is in "Environmental, Safety and Health" compliance with over 20 years of experience, but not being a "degreed" person slams a few doors. Wife and I are willing to move, if y'all hear of anything.

It's been fun being part of this group. Thanks.

I work for a largish paving and aggregate production company in northern new England. We had a corporate EHS position open up last fall, which to my knowledge hasn't been filled. If that sounds like something you're interested in let me know, I'll try to hunt up the info and PM it to you.

Huh, apparently can't send PMs from my mobile app.

Job posting is still up on LinkedIn, but has been pulled from our internal network, so I don't know what the status of it really is - here's the LinkedIn posting:

Maybe a consulting service or some subcontract work? At home business you always kicked around and never pulled the trigger?

These days there are tons of things to do to make money verses a traditional 9 to 5.
Keep your head up something will pan out.

Thanks for the ideas and support. Working on a few things along the consulting route, just nothing coming together.

Pike, I did a lot of work for them when I worked for Digital Equipment Corp back in the 70's-90's. I have a story about safety at the Tilton plant.
I had gone in to do a preventive maint check on one of the older CPU's
controlling the asphalt mixer. I told them I was about to take the machine offline, and to make sure they were on manual controls.
The guy said he was certain that they were all set for me to take over.
Then as soon as I start working on the old PDP8, something went
wrong and they dumped an entire load of hot asphalt mix right on the hood of the truck they were about to load! Damn, the guy got out of the truck and was scared shitless! If he had pulled forward just a couple of feet more, that entire load would have dumped right on his cab!
Pretty scary! The manager came running over, and of course they all pointed the finger at me! Luckily for me, the guy at the controls stepped up and took the blame..It was a real sketchy moment for sure!
This was about 1978 or so..

Not the last time that's happened. Scary as hell every time. Biggest cause now is plant operators having to multitask (run plant, load trucks, answer phones, two different radios, etc). Glad the operator stepped up.

Cool to hear about your connection to the company, thanks for sharing. Given the longevity of a lot of the guys on the ground, I'm probably working with some guys who you worked with there. A few are 40 year guys.

Actually owning a bike is not a requirement for hanging out here. Life changes, bikes come, bikes go, jobs come, jobs go. They are rolling off the line everyday. When life gets back on track buy another bike. Simple.

There are lots of Safety Officer positions. On Government jobs, many times, a Safety Officer is required and companies need to get one ASAP. Don't know what kind of money you want or if you are willing to relocate, but there are lots of people in the position that know much less than I. Go to USAjobs.com and give it a shot. Good luck.
