Thanks for the link. They only have them for '09 and newer.
I guess I should have mentioned that it will be going on an '07 Ultra Classic.

It does claim a 3" gain which is .5" more than DK. Still, the DK is stainless steel, rather than aluminum, and claims to add rigidity to the rack. I'm thinking the extra stiffness might be needed putting the pak back that far.

Thanks for the input so far, please keep it coming.
I'm probably WAY over thinking this...
Maybe 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch at the most, it is a well made piece and a 10 minute install with all hardware, no drilling needed either!!

So has anybody notice handling change with the weight being moved back on any years. Seams it would make the front lighter. Also the passenger don't have a problem with the seat not being as close to the back?

A happy camper on the back, and not really any noticeable difference in the handling.

I used the Kuryakyn slider in the past. It worked well for a while but they have these for latches underneath that you have to tighten down. Tighten them to tight and you bend the channel that slider slides in. Then it doesn't slide easily. That happened to me once and I had to replace it. I also found that after a while, on the new one, I couldn't keep the slider from moving unless I really torgued down those latches.

One more thing, someone said there wasn't any noticeable difference in the handling. I think that depends on the weight of the passenger and whatever else you put in or on the tour pak. You're completely changing the of the weight over the rear shocks and tire. That absolutely can impact handling.

I haven't noticed any difference in handling. I've put on 30k miles without issue or thought of it. Don't overthink it. You will be fine.

I've noticed big time handling issues when moved back and loaded down for a trip. just got to be aware of it, the front end can get really light. wheelies are still kinda cool even at my age.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll keep that in mind.
Though we don't do long trips or camp from the bike we are neither small people and the weight shift is something I'll be mindful of.

Don't know about wheelie's, but a light front end in the rain sounds a little bit scary, any information on that?
