Big city thunder baffles did it for me.
They go in the end of the header pipe and you use the same pipes. They will take the crackle away, drop the sound about 10 decibels and increase your low end torque a bit. $129 was what I gave and put them in my 03 egc and my 02 wide glide
I took another ride up the parkway and decided that the Slash Cuts I'd installed during the Stage 1 upgrade just weren't for me. Took em off last night, replaced the factory slip ons and reprogrammed the FP3 Tuner to match them and the high flow Air filter.
Success! I actually think the bike runs a little stronger and is a pleasure to ride again. They're on to stay. Thanks to the OP for starting this one, it's been an interesting thread!
I really like my Samson 4" Silver Bullets with the decibel killer baffles. It was a really nice sound when opened up, and quiets down at cruising RPM's.
You would be severely disappointed in the monster ovals if you want loud. They are very quiet, just a nice mellow low rumble. They sound really good when you get on it pretty hard, but otherwise they are very touring friendly.
In fact, I clicked on this thread to recommend them to the OP but he's since gone back to stock..,,
Okay, definately no monster ovals! What about monster Rounds? like i said earlier, I want loud rumble at idle and at freeway speeds. I do like the CFRs but they are not loud enough while touring. I know and understand, its all subjective....
Sorry to start another exhaust thread but I have a 2008 Street Glide with V&H Ovals that were installed before I took delivery of the bike (Ovals not Monster Ovals). They sound great at idle and around town but are too loud for touring. The bike has a stage 1 (SERT) and has about 15000 miles on it (Garage Queen due to busy work and family life)
Now that I have more time I want to do some long distance touring and the pipes have to go. Can anyone recommend a quiet touring exhaust for an 08 SG? Can I install the stock pipes with the stage 1 AC and not have any issues? Id like to keep the same engine performance that I currently enjoy if possible.
Thanks for any help with this and ride safe!

You might want to try a Scream'in Eagle muffler. They are not much louder than Stock. I say this because if you think the Monster's are too loud, I doubt you'll like any of the after market stuff being recommended. Most people think the Monster's are too quiet.
I have stage 1 Vance & Hines power duals, monsta rounds and the HD race tuner and k&N air filter sounds and runs great, can hear stereo great at 80 on the super slab. Mello when cruising barks when u get on it perfect for me. didn't loose any low end and gained a few ponies runs like a scalded dog.

I'm pretty sure the monster rounds are very similar to the ovals, it's just a looks preference thing between the two. Now the V&H hi-outputs are a different story. They are much more aggressive. I've not heard them in person though so take it with a grain of salt.
