i ordered one about a month ago for my SG. its a $40 thick rubber sticker. i got it because i thought it was gonna be a piece if metal, i was gonna sandblast a small logo on it for the "custom" look. when it showed up, to my disappointment its just a piece of rubber with a sticky back. the installation was simple. peal the stock one off, clean the surface and put the new one down. i think it looks good. would have been way cooler if i would have been able to etch it up.
Well, I guess I'm different, I'm not into a ton of chrome, but not into a blacked out special either.
I guess I want a balanced look.
My thoughts are the factory insert is brushed aluminum and it's the only piece on the bike that is brushed aluminum. Also, the console on the Road King is a little larger and squared compared to the Glide console. It's just a little to big and shiny in a Sea of Black.
I have this one installed on my '08. The original one was plastic. This one is formed from aluminum. It is a PITA to get centered but I used pieces of plastic to slide down the side to center it before pressing it in place!
