So if the MOCO starts calling your Gas tank a "mobil combustible fuel delivery storage container" because they change something in the design, then you can use that term too.

Most of us old dudes are gonna call it a gas tank.

but, ok, you win, congratulations.
LOL - - thanks for that - - I got my LOL for the day!

Eh seems hollow

Seriously was not trying to win anything, as a former MSP motor officer the difference was pounded into our thick skulls. It was important if you went from one of the few metric motors used in the beach areas to the standard Harley's used everywhere else. No harm no foul.

not to pound the point, but your analogy is different. hd has never called it a kickstand. from day one, it has been a 'jiffy'.....

They have Jiffy Stands. What is the difference? A Jiffy stand is a secure lock that will not fold under even facing down hill. The lean is needed to make sure the Jiffy Stand is locked with authority. I often face my Glide down my driveway, fully loaded on the stand in 1st gear. My driveway is a full 10 degrees slope. Sometimes the motor will turn over a compression stroke and slide down the hill a little but the Jiffy stand has never flinched.

My neighbors new Indian Vintage has a kickstand, he can't park that way.
Ummm. I've been riding a while and don't consider myself a "newbie" for calling the stand a "kickstand" or "sidestand". I actually think it's goofy calling the darn thing a "jiffy stand". WTF does that mean? It's faster to put on the stand? Oh please. To me it will always be a "kickstand" regardless of lean angle or locking mechanism. Carry on.

When i did the iron butt ride we had a bike (ninja) and the rider put the kickstand down. a minute later it went over to the right side, slamming the brake thru the side cover. It was a BP gas station ironically right after the gulf oil spill. We cleaned up the parking lot, JB welded the side cover and finished the iron butt ride. Point is I'll take my leaning harley or other bike over one that stands straight up and then can easily fall over.

That's why Harley fork locks only engage when the forks are turned left. The left turn / left lean combination is much more stable than a right turn / left lean.

When I park my Limited I'm very particular about finding level ground, or if I can find a spot with a slight pitch to the right, before I put the stand down. I never park off pavement if I can help it.

I've tried the tips on turning the fork to center before you tilt upright and the one where you push the base of the tank with your left hand. They really do work.
