Default FP3 on 2013 and back touring?

Anybody installed an FP3 tuner on a 2013 and older touring Harley and if so, how do you like it? I believe the part # is 66007. I currently have the standard fuel pack, but I am not really happy with it. I know this FP3 is new, just wanting some feedback on it. Thanks, Tim

Just installed a V&H FP3 week ago after first bike upgrades. Was tired of excessive right side engine heat issues on my 2012 FLHTK ...based upon my riding experience this bike runs far too hot... and had detonation issues after a couple hours riding in the warmer summer temps. Installed a V&H Power duals, and kept stock mufflers for now, for noise and price considerations and to remove the catalytic converter, and also installed a SE Eliminator billet Air breather kit at the same time. I have no experience with older version of fuelpak so unable to compare models, but I can give you my experience...

Install the latest firmware updates to the software. 3 in total and took more time than the actual flash.

Initial set up was pretty straight forward, a few codes kept coming up giving me errors, but eventually after a number of re-tries it installed ...I did not have the run switch ON, which may have contributed to the code errors.

V&H product support was good for providing map advice for non V&H product equivalency for map selection. Telephone help was immediate ...stock muffler question. and email took a day...question on a aftermarket muffler.

I left the FP3 Installed on the bike after the initial map flash and after the parts were installed at dealer it took a couple of minutes to install a second map that I had prepared ahead of the new parts install ....really easy and quick. Software allows you to have several maps stored and it keeps your initial map stored ...maybe handy if you sell bike or wish to restore for factory warranty or other reasons ??

On the factory Harmon Kardon stereo it displayed an alert that diagnostics are disabled, and I assume this is a result of me leaving the FP3 plugged into the bike, as I plan on using the AUTOTUNE feature after some time running the current map. One glitch worth noting is that with this alert being displayed I sometimes have to cycle the ignition on and off to clear the alert and have access to the stereo before actually starting the bike. ....thinking again this will go away after I disconnect the FP3.

The software is outstanding and considering you have a tuner on your iPhone or android device is pretty high tech. I did read somewhere of some limitations of the FP3 with more advanced bike modifications but have also see upcoming upgrades for cam options.

Initial impressions ...seat of the pants... was overall pretty good as it seemed to wake the bike up and throttle response was improved, they recommend some time running one map before any further changes, but looking forward to auto tune feature. Also intend on using throttle position sensitivity feature to further improve throttle response after autotune is complete. Overall I think the unit provided a noticeable improvement in the bike performance through the entire powerband. I am not an engine tech but have had previous modified HD a 1993 FXRS-C and did some of the work myself, but in the case of my FLHTK, simply looking for reasonable performance and no heat or engine issues, but will confess I am hitting the throttle a bit more this past week, and think those stock mufflers might be swapped out sooner rather than later ...LOL ...considering the Crusher Mellows by Kuryakyn , which may be manufactured by V&H, but keep sound levels reasonable......

Sorry I do not have longer term experience to share, but I will post an update after some more time, but bottomline this thing is high tech and eliminates the cost or need of a dealer flash for most of us.

Hope this helps.

I put VH slip ons on my 2011 RGU, and on my indie mech's recommendation I bought an FP3 to keep a stock lean bike from getting leaner.

I used VH's recommended map, and it works great. No decel popping, great throttle response, and the whole installation was super easy.
