.... i knew i wanted a fixed fairing from the get go, was not sure exactly why but just knew it.
...... if you like to tour,..... seriously tour, there is no better motorcycle.
.......... that said, I can understand the lure of the King, great ride, flexible set up, will do everything you want .... but there is no long ride, like a Road Glide
..... go test ride a Shark, but be careful ..... when you get off @ the end, you'll want one.
I had to rent a 2008 RG to go to Rolling Thunder in DC because my RKC was in the shop. What a POS, I could not wait to take it back. That said the new RG with the vented fairing is a whole different bike, everyone I've talked to that rides one loves it. If I get a new bike it will probably be a new tripled vented RG.
I own a couple of Dynas but I've rented an Electra Glide and Street Glide, the bat wing fairing didn't do any thing for me. I have a 2013 Road Glide Ultra, it rides like it's on a rail, truck turbulence is a thing of the past and the amenities on the Ultra makes the road trips that much nicer. I don't think you'll go wrong.
Great choice to have! I've really come to enjoy riding my King stripped down (without shield or tourpack). That option is critical to me. You're going to love whichever way you go.
Rode one in 07, never ridden anything else since then. Had a road king, converted it to a road glide.
Picked up a 2nd bike, another road glide, rode the hoka hey, on a roadglide, picked up a CVO guess what its a road glide.
Once you ride one, nothing else fits
me too. had an 07 road king. added an aftermarket batwing fairing. hated it being so 'in my face'. in 2010, bought a roadglide custom. rode it 4 years, then bought a cvo road glide. will always be a roadglide in my garage.
