Default Completed the ERC.......

.....and it was fun! And to think I was kind of nervous about itbeforehand. The one handed cone weave was the one exercise that concerned me most. I figured that one would come later in the day, but NO! It was the second exercise they put us through. No big deal though. Breezed through it without a problem and gained a keener sense of steering control as a result.
Low speed maneuvering, quick stops, cone weaves, tight turning circles,etc......all of it made for an enjoyable day with 7 of my fellow HOG chapter brothers and sisters. I even received some compliments from a few of the riders on how well I did the tight turning circles, figure 8's, and offset cone weaves. I was humbled by their remarks. The opinion of my fellow riders is most important to me. I had to admit to them though, I had a little help from the Ride Like A Pro video. It definately made a diference. Those tight circles were no problem. Thank you Jerry Palladino!
I highly reccomend taking the ERC. Sharpens up the skills, weeds out the bad habits, and just plain makes riding more enjoyable.

I got the "Ride Like a Pro Tape and watched it the other night and will be practicing soon. They even took off shipping for mentioning this forum.

I took a course more than 21 years ago, and still remember what I learned. Funny, I can't remember what I ate for dinner yesterday, butI remember the class. The wife is getting a bike soon, wants me to show her to tide street. She had a dirt bike as a child. I told her, 'no way'. She will take the class, or she wont ride on her own. Period. She says she doesn't want to spend the money, but, even with my years of riding, there are things in the course (I have heard), that she needs to learn from the pros. I would even take it with her, if this is the only way I can get her to take it.

Tk, there was no co-riders coarse going on when I was there. Can't say I have even heard of that. Would be a good thing though.

Papa, there were some riders in our group that were taking the ERC for the second and third times. They like to repeat it from time to time to stay sharp. As for expense, the coarse was $80 through my HOG chapter. After you pass, HOG (national)will reemburse you $50 in the form of a H-D gift certificate. But regardless of the reembursment, it is the best $80 you will ever spend. A bargain really. You are 100% correct in getting your better half to take a professional coarse. Good luck to both of you.

For the experienced rider, the course will build your confidence a bit or confirm to you that you've got your act together. You can go through the course as prescribed and you can push your capabilities of the control of yourbike if you feel the urge. Go through the turns faster than the balancing bear act and you will be surprized how much the bike will respond to your control.

I took the ERC 4 years ago and will take it again in a few years cuz I found it useful even after riding for 20 years.

Many insurance companies will give a discount for taking a course like that also.
