Default Ride Like a Pro Class

I took the "Ride Like a Pro" class on Sunday and it was excellent. Some of the lessons I learned were:

1. I REALLY need to practice my slow riding skills (rear brake, feather the clutch, keep up the RPM's).

2. I spent a lot of time "unlearning" bad habits (grabbing the front brake and duck walking at traffic lights).

3. My bike can do really amazing things if I can learn to trust the bike....and myself.

4. I can pick up my bike on my own (yes....humbling lesson.....what can I say).

5. Knowing what to do....and trusting myself to do it is two separate things.

So....I will be practicing this weekend and also plan on re-taking the class in the spring.

So....if you have a chance to take the course, I highly recommend it. We got a special deal through our local HOG chapter (there were 30 people in the class).

My opinion is you can never quit learning and improving your riding skills. I'm glad you picked up some things from your course. Who sponsors that particular course?

If you want to have some real fun while learning lots of things take the Keith Code Superbike Racing School course if you ever get the chance. It will be the most fun you ever had with your clothes on.

It's an excellent class. I took the Ride Like a Pro Police class several years ago. A friend of mine had won a ticket to the class, and he had a schedule conflict, so he gave me the ticket.

I took it on my Sporty, so I didn't drop my bike, but I remember that stuff and it really come in handy more when on the Ultra.

The class was run by "Ride Like a Pro Atlanta"...I'm sure they are all over the place. Also, our HOG chapter arranged a "group discount" of $120.....the normal price is $150.

The real lesson to me was being a big strapping guy (6'2' and 250 lbs) and watching the woman taking the class on her softail (she got it last MONTH). She didn't drop the bike, had some issues with some of the exercises (like I did), but she did an excellent job.

Demonstrated to me that you shouldn't have to "muscle" the bike.
