Default Do I need a remap, tuner, or just go

I started with a search!

I have called 3 different dealers and received 3 different answers.
Now I am here. I have a 2013 road King. No work besides SE slip ons and a ventilator air cleaner. No further plans of anymore engine mods.

So do I need a remap? A tuner? Or can I get away with running it on the stock maps without damage?

Thanks

Since you changed both A/C and exhaust you need a tuner or download. The download is generally seen as a waste of money. So that leaves tuner. Get a Vance & Hines FuelPak 3. It's super easy and will get that lean running bike running better and more importantly, running cooler. You can get the tuner for about $300 and it will grow with you if you go full exhaust system.

You may not "have to" but as said above, the bike is lean to begin with and by doing slip ons and AC, it's just making it more on the lean side; not a lot, but leaner for sure. I agree too on the FP3 vs a download. The FP3 will modify future mods if you ever do any and it also has other things like speedo calibration. throttle progressivity to name a few. A dealer download won't cost you much less than the FP3 and the download isn't all that great either.

Is it running OK now?
Does it ping when leaving a stop sign?

Just a suggestion - Fuel Moto has the Micro Tuner for $199. Tell them your setup and they will program it before shipping. Had one on my 02 Ultra and just bought one yesterday for my new to me 2010. I wanted simple easy plug and play and did not want to really tweak any parameters. While the Micro can be tweaked if this something you would want to do I would look at a more feature rich tuner. For me simple is best. I had no issues with my last one and FM provides great service.

You gotta get a tuner to get the full effect of your upgrades...I suggest Fuel Moto Power commander 5. You cannot go wrong...

Your choices are a simple matter of good, better, best. Your good as is if the bike is running ok with no pooping or pinging but it will be lean. Lean means heat. I ran a bike with the stage one download for 45,000 miles before I sold it. Ran great. With a tuner your bike will run cooler and have more power. If you want to top that, find a reputable indy with a dyno and let him tune it.

Good luck making your choice.

The 2007 and later models all have oxygen sensors and that will automatically adjust the AFR of a pipe and AC change. Now the bike will run fine but it will run just as lean as stock.

With that said you can add a tuner that will just make everything run cooler and bring out the best performance of your mods.

+1 on the PC5.....Doesn't matter where you get it from, the PC5 has def been valuable to me. You can get it just about anywhere for $299 with free map downloads from the DynaJet website.
