Does anybody know if you can just order the Heal part? Mine FELL?? off today with feet on hiway pegs at 70+ mph in traffic on interstate-no going back. Looked on the HD page and all they listed were replacement kits toe and heal-expensive-I just want stock one back, I miss it!
If you are talking the entire heel shifter.. it just the front turned upside down. Same part..
You usually can get one ofthese at your local Indy shop ina take-offparts bin for like 3 bucks...
Get a OEM through your HD Dealer... Think they're around $29.00 (?)
The heal shifter is one of the first thing I took off... Like more room on the floorboard... I kept the extra one just in case I strip out the ft one...
Hey... no helpful reply... sounds like everyone else has it covered. However, I find it interesting that two of my friends heel shifters fell off. Oneis a 2003 Ultra and the other is a 2007 Street Glide. I'm so **** about making sure everything is solid on my RK before I ride, (my life depends on it), I'm wondering how common this issue is? Just interesting to me.
someone mentioned that they are the same part just turned upside down. Correct and incorrect.
Correct..on the police models the front and rear shifter are the same part, the front is updie down.
Incorrect...on the non-police models the front shifter is different. It has s slightly more curved upward shaft.
One quick way to tell. If both the allen screws that are used to tighten the shifter to the rod are on the top then you have the ones that are not the same. If one screw if upward and one screw is downward then you have the same shifter on each, just one is upside down. Eiter one will work. I originally had the police style and had to replace it due to wear...the knurled part was almost slick. The non-police style is a few dollars less and works better for me.
I must be the odd man out, I like the heel-toe shifter. I got used to it on my last bike ('93 FLHTP) and quite franklyI would have a hard time going back to just the toe shifter now. JMHOYMMV.
