I must be the odd man out, I like the heel-toe shifter. I got used to it on my last bike ('93 FLHTP) and quite franklyI would have a hard time going back to just the toe shifter now. JMHOYMMV.

Nah, you ain't the odd man out. I feel exactly the same way!
I have an 07 SG and both are identical. One is upside down. Maybe mines "the odd man out".

someone mentioned that they are the same part just turned upside down. Correct and incorrect.
Correct..on the police models the front and rear shifter are the same part, the front is updie down.
Incorrect...on the non-police models the front shifter is different. It has s slightly more curved upward shaft.
One quick way to tell. If both the allen screws that are used to tighten the shifter to the rod are on the top then you have the ones that are not the same. If one screw if upward and one screw is downward then you have the same shifter on each, just one is upside down. Eiter one will work. I originally had the police style and had to replace it due to wear...the knurled part was almost slick. The non-police style is a few dollars less and works better for me.
The first week after I bought my new FLHTC there was nothing I wanted more than to tear off the heel portion of the shifter. Glad I didn't. Now I like the hell out of it.
If you mean just the shifter PAD (end)...yes...you can get just the Pad in a number of styles or stock. For the whole arm...same.
Surpised it vibed-off on an '07 with the indent in the spline...even if the allen bolt somehow vibed all the way out mine was ON there...tough.
I just replaced my stockers with LONG billet versions from Walter's Garage. They were expensive, but look great and are much longer than stock so I have room on the footboard for the size 13's.
Started-out thinking I would get rid of the heel shifter...but now would not consider it without!

Love heel shifter too! Went on a bunch demo rides recently on Dynas and Softails and had to give it a little thought to shift up with toe! Heel shifters are great.... I love slaming down the lever with my heel!
I too like the heel/toe shift but wanted more space on the foot board so I replaced the heel lever with a 1.5 inch longer version from Softbrake. Plenty of room now and easy shifting.
Sorry, I would of made offer but picked one up today-felt naked without it. Dealer repositioned the last one-this one I'll put on and it won't come off!
