Boom Box Navigation Issue
2016 Road Glide Ultra - I use an external program to create touring routes. My first time to upload a route to the new Boom Box system went well. But, while following the route I had programmed, the Boom Box programming: FASTEST:SHORTEST:SCENIC:TWISTY took over and modified my intended route, depending on which of the above was selected as a default. Anyone else experience this? Any way to turn the defaults off? Options? The program I've used for years for routing planning is TYRE.
Thanks for any suggestions.

After reading everything, I guess the only real fix is to use more waypoints. When I programmed a route and loaded it to my Garmin, I never had an issue with the Garmin algorithms overriding my planned route. I guess Harley thinks they know better. An archaic fix to a silly problem. Thanks for all the replies. Great forum!

I have a stand alone Garmin and I have experienced the Garmin map algorithms overriding the exact route I had on the computer screen.
ALL GPS units operate the same way when importing a route.
Your actual route isn't really uploaded into the unit.
Only the starting point, ending point, and any way points in between are loaded.
They are just latitude and longitude points on a map.
The GPS unit (any of them), then uses it internal mapping algorithms to guide you on the road between those points.
If there is only one or two ways to get to point B from point A, then they will all pretty much take the same route.
But if there are lots of different ways to get to point B, then various GPS units might calculate that route slightly different.
