So, I normally leave this bike in the garage or a covered carport when I'm not out riding around, but I am out of the normal area this week and the bike got rained on yesterday. Today, I drive it about 20 miles (10 one way, and the other back) and everything works fine. Get on it this afternoon and the shift indicator on the speedometer only reads neutral. I stop, turn it off for about a minute, restart...and it's the same.
Should I just wait until it completely dries out and see if it goes back to normal, or is this something I should be worried about?
I'm guessing the Left Hand Control Module (Switch Pack). Does your cruise control still work? Can you start the bike in gear with the clutch lever pulled in?
There is a switch on top of the transmission that gives the indication of neutral electrically. I had one on my Dyna go bad and I replaced it with a new one. The new one worked correctly for about a month and then started doing the same thing, always showing neutral. My mechanical guru put it on a metal lathe and took off a little metal around the sensor. It has worked fine for several years now.
Your bike should still be under warranty, so I would let the dealer take care of it. That will also document the problem and if it reoccurs maybe HD will pay for it.

These are the next to go (been there myself) get your switchback replaced. Hopefully it is under warranty. If not maybe go for the lighted controls.
Yeah, not sure what it is as I got on it this morning....same thing. Let it sit for about five hours, same thing. But damned if when I went to park it started working all normal again. It's supposed to rain tonight, so we'll see how it goes in the a.m.
Thanks for the assistance everyone...regardless, I'll take it in when I get back home.

Rain is what did mine in. I had no start in gear with church pulled, no cruise, and no shift indicator. At first after it dried out, it all started working again, but that didn't last long.
They told me the new one the put on is sealed better, but said I should expect it to go again.
Soooo, stupid me, I should have checked the error codes from the FuelPak I have....lo and behold, it's the neutral sensor. Went for a ride today, after letting it sit for 48 hours, and it worked fine, for awhile....then nothing but N again. Can't use the cruise when it's like that either. Guess I'll call the mechanics tomorrow, or Tue if they're closed...get this and the clutch recall looked at.
