Has anyone add power inside of their hard saddlebags, mind sharing your thoughts? I'd like to get some power for charging phones etc. but wanted to see how others have done it before I start drilling the bag.
What I plan on doing is mounting a 12v usb socket on the inside of the bag, drill a hole with a split grommet to run the wires through and connect them to the battery. Once it's mounted, seal up any gap in the grommet with some rtv. Something like this. I figure 3M auto body molding tape will hold it in place well. If not, I will make a flat piece of metal to slip behind the bag retainer, and connect it to the screw holes of the usb bracket.
That is the one I'm thinking about. I have a tank bag on another bike with thta connector and like it. I was just hoping to hear some input from others who have done it. Will likely buy one next week.

I have been contemplating this myself.
It's meant to hook into the battery tender charging port. But I wired mine directly to the battery so I didn't have to keep hooking up and switching when using the battery tender. Then I added a weather pack connector just outside the saddle bag for easy removal of the bag.
