Default Trunk Latch Broken Help

Update: I was looking around in the trunk and found the other half of the latch.

Now my question is what size screws/bolts etc do I need to fix this. Also I'll be looking for some flat steel stock to stiffen the mounting of the latch. There is a flat peace of metal that looks like it went under the truck seal. If I had a longer piece of this it would make the latch more rigid.

After I got home from a ride today I found on the latches was missing from my trunk as well as part of the fiberglass that holds it in. The other one is loose.

Wondering what others have down to fix this problem.

Where did you park? Looks to me like someone wanted to see the inside of your tourpak, or what was on the inside.

Premium latches would mostly fix that without too much of an issue because the upper part uses 4 screws.

I have part of the fiberglass missing, do you think the new latches would fix that?

Yes because you will have 2 screws above that split out, and 2 pins where your rivets were. all of the screws have washers, so like I said it would mostly fix it.

I would take it to a dealer and get his opinion whether the premium latch would cover the damage and also ask if he thought it was pried open by someone. If the latter, I would turn it into insurance.

I'm curious, was the latch locked when you left the bike unattended?

Good idea about checking with the dealer.

I don't think it was pried open based on my professional experience from my former life.

I have a $250.00 deductible for insurance.

I don't remember?
