I have an older model so my setup is a little different. As it turned out I have the HD sissy bar and front docking stuff and the eBay cheap rear docking and trunk mounts. I can see very little difference in either. The HD stuff came with better instructions I guess but otherwise you'd never know the difference as it sits on my scoot.

Buy once, cry once. Cheapest thing on a Harley is the rider.

Que the "My safety strap beat the paint off my saddlebag lids" or "The b*tch fell off with the Tour Pak" threads. Harley detachable hardware may also be outsourced from another country, but; HD has a liability exposure if the part fails so it may be of better quality. If nothing else, there is anecdotal evidence that Harley detachable hardware doesn't fail catastrophically because there are millions of sets in use.

If the welds and look good and solid, I wouldn't be concerned. As someone earlier said, the HD stuff is likely made overseas too. I bought a knock off luggage rack off eBay for $69. Looks exactly like the Harley rack, but its made in China. Fits the Harley Docking hardware better than the Harley backrest and tour pack mount I bought from Harley. I think you put together a good deal for yourself and saved some bucks. Nothing wrong with that!

I wouldn't put much stock in the fear mongers. I've never heard of a QD tourpack failing if it is installed correctly. I've seen the HD stuff right next to the after market stuff and if I had to guess, they were made by the same company.

You'll be fine.

A lot of the stuff on Harley's straight from the showroom floor is made overseas. A lot of the stuff Harley sells in the aftermarket, is made overseas.

As long as you inspected and the quality looks good, I think you'll be ok.
