The cost for all this is a about 1/4 what the Harley stuff would cost. Yes, I am a cheap Basta*d, so might you be if you were on my fixed retirement income. So, now I am wondering....... could it fall off as I am motoring down the freeway? The latches snapped closed and seem tight but I am still nervous.
Would you install backup safety straps of some sort on the trunk hardware to prevent it from disengaging and/or falling off? Your detachable hardware knock-off experience is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Old thread, looking at the knock offs, and this related thread popped up, How did they last if you still have the bike and the set up, thanks.

I'm not the OP of the thread but I'll chime in. My Ebay knock offs have been great. I have had my luggage rack on for over 3 years, rain & shine. Over 100 mph with zero issues. Don't hesitate to save yourself some money.

I also have had one on my bike for 3 -4 years, not one single problem. In excellent condition and been in all kinds of weather. My buddy bought the same one as mine and his is perfect as well.

Thanks for asking. Have not had any problems with the, "knock offs". No regrets. I rarely use the travel trunk anymore. I find it much easier to get on and off the bike without it. When going on long trips it is easy to strap a travel bag onto the luggage rack. I've also removed my lower fairings....the pods. I was very skeptical about pod removal to make the engine run cooler as many have experienced. It certainly has been true in my case too. So, now my bike looks like a Street Glide more often than not.

I think that is a good contribution. He is informing the OP for future reference that it is best to ask before making a purchase. It is kind of silly that the OP spent all that money on the parts, installed the parts, and then asks if anyone thinks his tour pack is going to fall off. I know if it were me and I had a question about hardware I was considering for purchase, to the point I was worrying about losing parts while riding down the road, I would ask first.
