I had a long conversation with a Vance and hines tech at Sturgis last week. Asked him how much I'd give up by using a decatted pipe over their $499 version. He said maybe 2hp. I have since decatted....

Speaking about the same topic. I'm considering decatting my headpipe, and I'm assuming the pipe is stainless, right?

I don't think it is Stainless. put a magnet on it, if it sticks its steel, if it doesnt stick, its stainless.

Thats a great idea...cant believe I didnt think about that. Just curious because I don't see many that have any rust on them, even off the bike for any given time. And I can't weld stainless.

Use some basic math. Displacement x the pipe volume. Not going to happen in a stock motor. No way. Could happen in a large CI with high lift and and high rpm, in theory.
