Extremely Hot Right Side Exhaust
Purchased new and I have put 37k miles on it to date.
The bike is completely stock except for CFR slip-ons I installed 2 days ago.
Last weekend I installed a set of Cary Faas Racing Slip-ons.
Took it out for about a 4 miles test ride then parked and shut off the motor.
Walked around behind the bike checking it out and I saw that a white smoke kept coming from the right side and did so for a few minutes before stopping. I am thinking well the slip-ons are new and that is to be expected for a few miles, but the left side never smoked.
The next day I took the bike out for about a 10 mile ride and then again checked the smoking issue of which had stopped but at that time I noticed the right exhaust side was extremely hot so I got down and looked through the right exhaust and I could see a red glowing.
The stock head pipe is a "2 - 1 - 2" so as I was looking through the right side I was thinking the red glow I am seeing must be the "cat", but why would only the right side be getting overly hot and not the left.
I am thinking of de-catting the head pipe and maybe a tuner like FP3 from VnH's, but was thinking I could upgrade the slip-on's with doing all that.
Thanks for all advice in advance.
Joe
I have used nightrider.com xieds for 5 years to good result- and they are cheep!
or it could be your cat glowing- I don;t have one so i dunno
in most conditions the exhaust gasses are exiting the rt side- the path of least resistance- for the gasses to exit the left side, they have to make 2 90ş turns and go through the squish in the cross under pipe ( which is smaller to keep velocity high)
the left side has a marginal presence below about 3200 rpms
