I'm sure HD will find a way to fleece us again. They'll make it more expensive 'cause it now has 4 lobes instead of 2.

Harley probably wont cut us a break. But hopefully Andrews, Woods, S&S etc will give us a break.

I love reading all the posts from all the haters. I am excited for the changes. I put a deposit down for '17 at the '16 price 2 months ago, and all of this makes me glad I did. Ready to move into the touring bike world.

I don't know why all the haters are hating. For years peopled have wanted Harley to address issues with the twin cam.

They did. its called the Milwaukee Eight. From reading the specs, its looks like a great engine. Honestly, im glad they added a balancer. I hear so many people say they love the Harley shake. Lots of people don't. My father is not a bike rider at all and every time he sits on my road glide he just bitches and complains about how bad it vibrates at idle. How many would be buyers has Harley lost because of how bad the engine shakes. Maybe a lot, Maybe not. But I think its a step in the right direction. Also, the compensator obviously went through a major redesign if you look at the cut away pics. Also, they have done lots of work to mitigate heat. Now, street glides and road glides get oil cooled heads, where as on the twin cam only the twin cooled ultras got liquid cooling and the SG/RG got nothing.

Honestly the only way I can look at this engine is as big step forward for HD. Is it as fast as a Yamaha, Victory or Indian? It can always be made faster.

My only gripe with HD remains. Stop with this two different engine crap. Put the 114 in all the bikes across the touring lineup. Two up riding with luggage weight needs all the torque it can get. Stop nickel and diming us to death over staged upgrades just to get the power you sell in the CVO bikes.

I'm not sure whether this makes my Rushmore more or less valuable, but either way I'm not trading a two-year old bike in on an unproven motor.

Maybe in a couple of years when the bugs are worked out I'll have another look.

I can't tell from pictures of the new engine where one gets access to the two new plugs.

The linked articles state that they have 1.5 million miles on the test mules. My guess is it will be a very good motor. But as I said before, I'm waiting until they put it in an equally good chassis - not a warmed over Rushmore frame. I'll need to see inverted forks and a monoshock.

All that said, I'll bet the new bike is a great upgrade. To me there was a significant difference between my 11 and my Rushmore. I'll bet, with all the refinements and changes, the new bikes are an even bigger step up the evolution ladder. Smoother, faster, more capable. I look forward to trying one out.

I'm not saying this won't be a good motor, just that I'm in "wait and see" mode. Any major project like this is bound to have some bugs, just like the Rushmores did.

Even if I were in the market for a new bike, I think I'd wait a year and see how it all shakes out.
