Hi. Where could I find out? I have a 2008 road King. I need exhaust. Would a 2010 road King exhaust. The 2010 cross over goes under frame. Oxygen sensors would not be used.
Why would I look at aftermarket. What style would be best. I am a low speed cruiser. I don't know much about this but my internet search suggests that for best low rpm torque and throttle response a 2-into-1 exhaust works best. The 2010 exhaust does this, although it does split off after the chamber. I am hearing impaired and the aftermarket exhaust is very loud for me and makes my hearing aids ring.
in 09 the frame changed, won't fit without some mods, s&s makes an 2-1-2 for the pre 09. or look at 2-1. the tunable disc style gives the best performance while being among the quietest. supertrappp supermeg, fuelmoto E-series are both great exhaust.
HI Cole. Welcome to forum,
Yes the 10 header will fit your 08 but you will need to change oil pan to 09 + oil pan also engine block need drill for 2- 1/4 x 20 bolts . There info on forum and Internet to do this change over.
Now 2010 and up have catalytic converter build into header pipe. It can be done easy and cheap too. That factory decat 2-1-2 header is good header up to 100hp+ and has great low end torque..
Hell I have decat header I would sale you but won't be home till thanksgiving. Lol. Working .
Watch touring classifieds here. Guys put decat header up for sale all time. The oil pan is what can be hard to find. Any 09-16 touring oil pan will fix you 08..
I have 11' oil pan on my 07 RK and header was off 11 too .
Do some searches on subject lots of info out there.
Your bike is the end of that line of design, later bikes have a new frame and their stock exhausts will not bolt on. They can be made to work, but that requires mods and there are threads about making them fit. The suggestion to look aftermarket is good advice.
A 2-into-1 is a great exhaust and you can tune the noise a Supertrapp Supermeg makes, which should allow you to prevent it interfering with your aids. They are not as noisy as most other aftermarket systems to start with and would be a good starting point IMHO.
I agree entirely about many systems being noisy, which is why I bought my Supermeg and love it. Gives excellent performance. You could contact SuperTrapp to see if they can offer advice for a suitable set-up.
Thank you everybody for your suggestions and input. I heard from someone that a 2009 road King exhaust has the chamber but no catalyst in it? The gears in my mind, they are a-turning.
that is correct. The 09's do not have the catalyst in the header. The 02 bungs are closer to the exhaust ports but since you're not using them it is of no concern to you.
I have an exhaust from a 2000 with 4800 miles minus flanges and snap rings. Make me an offer if you are interested.
Slip on mufflers have removable slash cut tips. All chrome is very nice.

So do 2009 piped. '09 pipes would be better since they don't have cats (except CA). But the oil pan needs a mod to accept the crossover pipe holder. A few in the forums have done it.
