Default Anyone using fp3 with D&D Fatcat 2:1 Pipe?

Hey all,
Just wondering if anyone is using the v&H fp3 to tune their ride along with the fatcat 2:1 exhaust. I did reach out to the folks at D&D and they said it should be okay - just wanted to get more confirmation on if it working well for people. Reason I like the fuelpak is that it is dummy proof for people like myself.

Also how are you guys liking the pipe....I was somewhat concerned that they would get annoying on longer highway rides.

Right now it is between the D&D or thunderheader....

I'm running the fatcat on my Heritage. I like the sound, and the bike seems to have a bit more oomph. I can be on running along at 70 on the highway and still turn up the fire to pass someone without downshifting. I was not able to do that with the stock setup on this bike.

I downloaded their map for the propipe and used autotune. It ran pretty well on the downloaded map, but I just can't leave sh*t alone

Edit to add* you didn't ask for this, but I'll throw it out there. This exhaust hangs pretty low on my bike. I've scraped it several times on right turns, or hitting dips while 2 up. I would still buy it again though

Thanks for the info! I'm also like you; can't leave anything alone

Also I do a lot of 2 up riding so the scraping will definitely be taken into consideration.

I don't believe the scrapping will be an issue on a touring bike.

I have a Fatcat on a Street Glide and have zero clearance issues, except for the occasional steep driveway.

Awesome, how is the noise level for longer highway cruising..I know sound is subjective, but I would still like to hear your opinion. I used to run V&H Short Shots on my old DYNA and it was obnoxiously loud.

It depends on the baffle you choose - I have the perforated wrapped baffle in my Fat Cat on a 103 with an open air cleaner and a Power Commander V (which is also idiot proof, and more future proof should you decide to add cams, or something else to the engine later on, oh, and it's fairly cheap too at about $300 from Fuel Moto).

I really considered the louvered wrapped baffle since it's labeled as the quietest. In retrospect, I'm glad to have chosen the perforated wrapped baffle instead. The sound is phenomenal! Riding along at a steady throttle input, it's not bad. Open the throttle a little further, and you can hear it nicely. And when you close the throttle and coast, or downshift to engine brake - that's just a plain awesome sound from the Fat Cat!

Decel and closed throttle really sounds similar to a big V8 muscle car engine. It's a sound that's easily addicting!

I really love everything about the FatCat, it looks amazing the quality and workmanship are first rate.

But, you specifically asked about longer rides. It gets a little obnoxious. I have been on a few long rides recently including going again this weekend. I have explored my options for a quieter baffle.

I have the perforated wrapped baffle. D&D told me the louvered wrapped baffle will be quieter, but not much.

edited to add, Oh, I have a built 107, 777 cams and 10.6-1 compression.

I had a street bob with short shots before this, and it doesn't seem as obnoxious to me. I loved the short shots, but there was just one "volume" with those.

With the fatcat, it can idle with a nice low rumble, or it can get really loud when you get on the throttle. On the highway, it can get a little "droney" at a constant speed/rpm.

Default FP3 suggestions

I know this is an older thread but I was curious if you guys had some input on the best FP3 map for the D&D Fat Cat after some trial and error? I plan to try out auto tune when the weather gets better and I can ride a little more consistently. Until then, I am using “canned” maps.

My 2013 Road King Police has the Fatcat installed. Changed rears to a low miles used pair of Harley premium shocks which I have cranked up to max preload since I ride two up all the time and we are both heavy.
Never have scraped the Fatcat. The Power Commander V was tuned by a Dyno shop so can't comment on the FP3.
The quiet baffle is installed and the sound level is about as loud as I would want wearing an open face helmet with ear plugs. My .02 YMMV
