Hey all, 2003 RKC with an all bore 107. I had a HD cooler on it for years, until lifters went out last spring. Went without the cooler last summer and this year, but would like to go back that route as I plan on moving to the Las Vegas next year and just feel better with it.
Questions is, I'd like to buy a Jagg that mounts on the downtube so to keep it from being possibly damaged from a low mount (possible cause of lifter failure last year). Does anyone have pics of what this looks like on a RK while still having the engine guards?

You think the low mounted HD cooler was the cause of your lifter failure...?
So you want to add one that mounts higher?

I put it at about 5 percent chance that it was the cause. Regardless, I want an oil cooler that is not low to the ground, able to pick of debris, rocks, etc.
I'd like to see pics of what the Jagg side mount looks like on a RK. Or a touring model of any sorts for that matter.
Drove my 11 Limited tI'll now with the stock cooler all over..gravel roads included..same for 09 Triglide..never put a hole in it...just sayin
Can't argue with this logic----I did 95K everywhere doing the same thing on it, but when the oil was analyzed, came back with sand in it. Needless to say, I would prefer the cooler higher up
I guess I will just go with the jagg side mount and call it a day.
Sand can't get it the oil system, except the same places oil can get out.... Fill hole, drain hole, vents or leaks. If your cooler wasn't leaking, it wasn't letting sand in... Oh and I forgot to mention the the sand could also be from the casting process used manufacturing some of your engine parts, if they were not cleaned out properly, and you never got a good flush on oil changes (read changing hot oil).
