2008 ultra SE Compensator
Tell me what the dealer did wrong in ordering this part for me and how can I correct it.
Do I need another replacement part for this kit to work.... All ready glued the oil tray in to primary cover
If so, you should have gotten part number 40100061 which
comes with a new rotor ( Part No. 30041-08A ) and spring pack.
Check your rotor and see if it has an attached spring pack. If so, it was the original ( or original replacement. )
What the dealer gave you could be correct if you had an older SE comp in there.
Check the part number on the rotor, if it is 30041-08 or 30041-08A then the original had been replaced with an SE.

Help.....please any way to make this one i have work?
The fix for that is you have to clearance / grind the opening in the prim case enough to clear the larger diameter that the new rotor has using a die grinder or dremel tool with grinding stone.
Make sure you clean all metal particles from motor and or prim case when done with grinding process.
Your also supposed to use a die grinder to remove certain area's of the outer prim case when gluing in the plastic oiling tray for the new SE comp and if you don't grind / remove enough material in the proper areas of outer prim cover it wont fit properly/wont seat nice & flat onto the inner prim case for proper sealing with gasket.
Good luck & happy motoring.

You said you replaced the comp already, but with an original or an SE?
If you look at this thread
https://www.hdforums.com/forum/dyna-...mpensator.html
the sixth and seventh pictures show the older style rotor with attached spring pack.
( it also shows the grinding that wscott was talking about, but usually only necessary to get the old one out if you do not remove the inner primary housing)
In the second post you can see the newer style rotor with the shaft extension already installed.
If you have the newer sytle rotor, did you clean out the old lock-tite from the bolt hole?
9/16-12NC bottoming tap and then clean all that crap out of there?
I don’t know if your new comp came with shims, if it did make sure it did not fall between the rotor and the shaft extension before final tightening.

Oh the joys of inner primary removal.
When the parts dept. heard that the ordered the part number for me 4220064a. The reason is I already had the rotor. When I installed the kit last night the primary cover wont go on all the way.
The rotor is fully seated..the shaft extension is also sucked up tight because of the magnets in the rotor the spring pack is correctly seated because it cant get behind the extension. I put the sprocket retainer and the sprocket all on together at the bottom of the travel...
So what is wrong?
I don't believe the inner primary case has a thing to do with it. In 2008 I ground the primary case see mu post then and was castrated for doing it way back then...
If the oil trey is in the way some how then tell me how?
It sat flush against the rib correctly....Could I have glued it to a wrong rib? and should have taken out the first rib closest to the middle of the case? If i turn the sprocket areound it fits perfectly that is with the tag "this side out" really" in" facing the rotor... i couldnt have gotten the only screwed up one could I?
