Default 2013 electraglide vs Rushmore electraglide

I've got a 2013 Eglide classic and I like it other than the heat fron the cat. I have the opportunity to trade it in on a 2016 (new ) Rushmore Eglide. I've never ridden one and because my current ride is relatively new I haven't paid much attention to them.

For those who are familiar with both, what advantage would there be to moving up to the newer bike, other than the obvious fact that it's newer. Pros and cons welcome

If it's the heat that bothers you, the Rushmore will be the same. Get a 2017.

Decat the 13 .... I have a 12 with decat'ed head pipe and a 14 SGS with S&S Power Tune head pipe. My SGS is hotter .....

I've posted this before, with what I know now I'd be perfectly fine with my 12. The Rushmores are nice but not at the level heard around here ....

I had a '09 Ultra that I liked a lot which is very similar to your '13. I traded it for a '15 Limited and have no regrets what so ever..............Would make the trade again in a heart beat. My wife even comments about how much more comfortable she is and how much better the Limited rides compared to the '09 Ultra we had.

Probably dont count but I traded in Nebraska while on business on a Friday................Left Nebraska at 0600 on Saturday morning and pulled into my garage in East Tennessee at 2300 that Saturday night.

Its a better riding and handling bike than my '09 was. I live in the mountains of East Tennessee and the Limited handles better than my '09 ever thought about. And I do like scraping foot boards when riding solo..............So yes it gets pushed at times.

My '09 was stock without the CAT.................The Limited, with a twin cooled 103 does not give off as much heat with a CAT in my opinion. I took off the mid frame heat shields on the '15 and wont put em back on, couldnt live without em on the '09.

I like everything about the Rushmore..............If I compare the Limited to my last Ultra, the Limited wins on every line item.

I owned and totaled a 2013 Ultra and I know the heat and pinging I would get in traffic.
I waited a year and bought a leftover 14 Limited. I can't speak for the air cooled Rushmores, but since I've owned both, I can tell you there is a big difference LESS heat with the 14. Both bikes bone stock. I get NO pinging on the 14. For me anyway, I would not go back. Happy I waited and I think it's a better bike. Since I'm the one paying for it, that suits me. Your results may vary. Good luck.

IMO the liquid cooled head I worth it. The HO 0t put 103 does give a bit more that the 2013 103. Trade a 2013 of a 2016 last year

I think the Rushmore is a better bike. Engine, linked brakes, forks. Rides great. I have not tried 2017 yet.

You should really test ride one to see for yourself. Depending on the bike, you may not notice a significant difference, or it could be night and day. I believe a good 13 will be as good or better than a not so good 14. Not all bikes are created equal - even when they are on the same production line.

I changed from an 11 Ultra to a 14 Street Glide Special. To me the difference was remarkable. Yes, there are things about changing models that account for some of the differences like cooler with no lowers, better handling with no tour pack, etc. But here are the things I liked about the change that you may notice -

Better running motor - yes, they are basically the same. But whatever changes they did make made for a more powerful, smooth motor. And it runs much cooler than my Ultra did.

Better handling - My Ultra felt like it was held together by duct tape and rubberbands and weighed 2000 lbs in curvy sections as compared to the SGS. I believe the shocks along with better neck and fork make a big difference.

Infotainment - I love mine. I know others have complaints, but I honestly don't think I would like a bike without it now that I've had it.

Linked brakes - I had ABS on my Ultra but the brakes on the SGS work better.

But seriously - take one for a ride. No harm in that.

If heat is the issue and you intend to leave the head pipe stock skip the 16 and get a 17.

I had a 13 SG with lowers and now have a 16 RGU liquid cooled, not a lot of difference, the 17 was an amazing difference. The '17 M8 redesign moves the cats back to the muffler out of the head pipe.
